Nurses are an integral part of any hospital, clinics, nursing or medical institution, and careers in this field are surely booming globally.

So we have learned becoming a nurse is not an easy job and that there are different types of nurses based on the nature of what they do. It is also categorized to non-intensive care unit (ICU) or floor nursing and to critical care nursing.

Postoperative Care Unit Nurse

Nurses who work with patients whose in pain after surgery. They have to be very good at diagnosing and equipped with strong knowledge of anesthesiology. Their average approximate salary is $60,000.

Pediatric ICU

These are nurses that work in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), treat children who are critically ill or injured. They work continuously towards improvement of condition. Their average salary is approximately $65,000.

Emergency Room

These are nurses who work with patients that need immediate treatment. Work long shifts, usually 40 hours/week. They do a quick assessment of patients and assign them to respective doctors/physicians. Their average approximate salary is $65,000.

Neonatal ICU

Neonatal nurses are those who work with newborn babies who suffer from diseases or illnesses that can be life-threatening. Work under respective physicians. Their average salary is approximately $65,000.

CCU or Cardiac Care Unit

They are the nurses who work with the most critically ill. They can be approximately paid up to $70,000 annually with lot of experience and education of the field.

Cardiothoracic ICU

These nurses work with patients who are severally ill with problems relating to the heart. They handle a maximum of 2-3 patients. These nurses are paid high, as much as $170,000 at times.

Flight Nursing

They are the nurses who work with critically ill patients who need to be transported by air for better treatment or need to be reached at specific locations. The travel nurse salary range average is $60,000.

General ICU

They work with patients who are critically ill in the Intensive Care Unit. They keep them under strict observation and keep working for better condition. Their average approximate salary is $75,000.

Neuro ICU

These nurses work with patients who suffer from problems such as communication, sleep and sexuality. Their average approximate salary is $70,000.

Surgical ICU

These are the nurses who work with patients who don’t have stable prognosis immediately or gradually after a particular surgery. Their average approximate yearly salary is $70,000.
